The FAS Competency Development Program is designed to improve the skills and productivity of employees in Irish businesses by providing substantial subsidies to the eligible cost of training.


As an approved Training provider under the FAS Competency Development Program (CDP), Tara Training can provide training to eligible employees, self-employed and businesses with over 50% savings.

Information about the FÁS Competency Development Programme (CDP)


1. AIM
The aim of the Competency Development Programme (CDP) is to raise the competency level of employees. The programme will provide training subsidy to enhance the competency level of specific members of the company's workforce to enable those employees to cope with frequent and ongoing changes in work practices.

2. SCOPE OF THE PROGRAMME
The programme will be open to employees (and self employed) from companies whose employment level is 250 employees or less in the private sector.

3. ELIGIBLE SECTORS
The following key sectors are within the scope of the programme:

  • Business Related Services

  • Chemicals

  • Clothing, Footwear and Textiles

  • Construction

  • Contract Cleaning Services

  • Engineering /Electronics

  • Film and TV

  • Food and Drink

  • Logistics/Software / Transport

  • Motor

  • Printing, Paper and Packaging

  • Retail / Wholesale


FÁS will provide a substantial contribution towards the eligible cost of this training, e.g.
60% of the agreed cost for certified programmes.
40% of the agreed costs for programmes without certification.

It is envisaged that the net amount, i.e. the agreed cost of the programme less the FÁS contribution will be paid directly to the training organisation at the start of the programme with the balance being paid to the training organisation by FÁS upon the satisfactory adherence to the terms and conditions of the contract.
